Varying distances are purposefully designed to utilize all 14 of your clubs throughout the 18 holes.
3 Hours or Less
With a shorter golf yardage and (hopefully) fewer strokes, playing Benona Shores frees up more of your time to enjoy the coast of Lake Michigan.
Fruit-Lined Fairways
Acres of apple and pear trees are still harvested within the golf course each year. Feel free to pick one while playing.
A Brief History

1920S
Fruit farm originally owned by Maurice & Mary Page. Fruits included apples, pears, peaches, apricots and plums.

1962
Their daughter, Maryann Hukill married Bob Hukill they moved to Indiana, but soon moved back to Shelby and purchased the farm from her parents in 1962.

1962–1974
The Hukill’s farmed fruit for 12 years, and didn’t make much money so they decided to turn the farm into a golf course (in which Maryann knew nothing about).

1974–2001
The course was designed by Warren Bowen and built by Bob, Maryann and many friends and family. The front nine opened in 1974, back nine in 1976.

2001–2020
Bob Hukill passed away in 2001, and Maryann in 2008. Their son, Brian took it over and ran it until his death in 2019. Then, Brian’s wife, Dawn and their children took over.

TODAY
The course was purchased by Jason & Kayla Wenk in 2020. Apples and pears on the course are still harvested today. The importance of family still remains strong.
